FIRST AID FOR BACK PAIN

Back and neck pain may be alleviated by using some solutions that can be found in your home. Please note, if your pain is persistent or extreme you should contact your physician or chiropractor right away. If using these solutions results in more pain, stop and contact your physician.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORIES:

Stretches for back pain.Anti-inflammatories such as aspirin or ibuprofen will lessen swelling in nerves and muscles. Do not take an aspirin substitute – they do not act as an anti-inflammatory. Be sure to follow the dosing directions on the bottle, and if you experience any problems – contact your physician.

ICE MASSAGE:

An ice massage can help alleviate pain in your shoulders, neck, and back. It can also be helpful when experiencing back spasms. What occurs during this type of massage is the area becomes numb which slows down nerve impulses. This will help your spasms, alleviate pain and decrease swelling. The area in spasm or pain should be massaged with the ice in a circular motion for 5 – 7 minutes.
